Liberian Customs Officers Arrest Sierra Leonean Woman With “KUSH” Drugs.

Through its vigilant Customs Department, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has arrested a Sierra Leonean National identified as Maseray Sesay for attempting to smuggle into Liberia a significant quantity of narcotic drug referred to as “Kush” from Sierra Leone.

A dispatch from the LRA revealed that Madam Maseray, aged 35, was taken into custody on 14 September, at the Bo-Waterside Liberian-Sierra Leonean Border in Grand Cape Mount County. Suspect Sesay was found to have 2 kilograms of Kush, with an estimated street value of US$36,000, when Customs arrested her.

The popular Kush is a substance rolled up and smoked like a cigarette or cannabis. But the illegal synthetic drug is not to be mistaken with the synonymous marijuana strain.

The illicit drugs were cleverly concealed within a black plastic bag, carefully hidden within a brand-new, oversized Jiepak speaker.

Furthermore, upon her arrest by the Customs officials, the alleged drugs carrier was handed over along with the drugs to the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in the County. She has been formally charged for prosecution.

It can be recalled in 2022 that the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Bong County Detachment charged and sent to Court a Sierra Leonean National Aleo Bangura for alleged drug trafficking at the cost of 8,595 Dollars or a little over LRD$1,289,000.

The LRA Customs underscores its unwavering commitment to its core responsibilities, which include the lawful collection of revenue, facilitation of cross-border trade, and safeguarding the well-being of the citizens of Liberia.

Meanwhile, it is significant to stress that the Mano River Countries which include Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia, are grappling with an increasing number of young people becoming addicted to the KUSH substance which has killed several people in the region.

After a few puffs of the KUSH, the consumer is left stoned, unable to stand upright with clear aftereffects of falling, body injuries, and loss of self-esteem.
