Boakai: Liberia Must Leverage its Comparative Advantage in Agriculture to Increase its Economic Output

Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the former vice president and incoming president of the Republic of Liberia, has sent his gratitude and admiration to the Liberian diaspora community for their assistance in promoting democracy and transformation in Liberia.

Speaking at a ceremony in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday, Boakai stated that the diaspora of Liberians had played a vital role in fostering an impromptu people’s movement and a popular upsurge that had pushed Liberia dangerously close to a smooth post-war double transition.

He declared that he was always thrilled to have discussions concerning the nation and how the diaspora of Liberians should cooperate to tackle the issues facing the country.

In addition, he expressed gratitude for his wonderful wife, Mrs. Kartumu Boakai, and his loving family, who supported him during the crunch of the 2023 elections—which he called the most important and fiercely contested democratic elections in history.

Boakai claimed to have been physically, financially, psychologically, and emotionally strained by participating in some of the most difficult presidential election campaigns during the previous four election cycles. He claimed that although a flurry of lies had personally hurt him, he had come to the conclusion that what really mattered was the Liberian people.

He claimed that he was able to understand the greater good and look over his confined political culture and limited interests because of their enormous shoulders. He claimed that what would keep Liberia’s democratic credentials impressive throughout the country’s transitions was their unwavering determination to freely select their leaders and make their opinions heard.

He claimed that the purpose of his visit was to convey his sincere gratitude and admiration for the support that the Liberian community in Rhode Island, as well as all Liberian communities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and many other places, have provided for the Liberians back home.
