Liberia’s Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director General Josiah Joekai has issued a strong call for the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) to terminate the employment of nine employees involved in harmful social media campaigns targeting public officials.
Joekai announced this during a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT). While declining to name the specific individuals, Joekai stated that the employees have been particularly aggressive in their attacks on the President of Liberia.
“The negative portrayal of government officials by these unscrupulous employees has far-reaching effects on the individuals concerned and the government as a whole,” Joekai said. “Such unacceptable and sustained behavior on social media is incompatible with the status of the employees in question.”
The CSA director emphasized that the MCC should terminate the services of these employees and promptly inform the agency.
In addition to this recommendation, the CSA urged the MCC to dismiss any employee who has consistently and deliberately abandoned their job for more than 15 days in a single month or across multiple months. This includes employees with extended absences without proper authorization or documentation.
Joekai commended Monrovia Mayor John-Charuk Siafa for his efforts in implementing the ARREST Agenda and assured the MCC of the CSA’s continued support.
