Monrovia, Liberia – President George Manneh Weah will on Thursday, February 2, 2023, address a High-Level Forest and Climate Resilience conference dubbed “Liberia Forest and Climate Resilience Forum”.
Liberia is hosting the conference at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, Paynesville.
As a Champion for Climate Change, President Weah is expected to reiterate his commitment to climate change and his proposed idea of an African Carbon Market. The Liberian Leader made the proposal in Glasgow (2021) at the Conference of Parties (COP26).
It has always been the position of the Liberian Leader that the African Carbon Market should set the basis for concerted efforts to address climate change while leveraging the associated opportunities for the socio-economic development of our people.
In the pending oration, the Liberian Chief Executive will urge the organizers and participants to endeavor and create an enabling environment for climate resilience in Liberia and at the same time set the tone for maximizing carbon sequestration.
The Liberia Forest and Climate Resilience Forum is a high-level event aimed to catalyze partnerships, renew political commitments, and chart a pathway towards sustainable forest management and climate change as a key strategy to support Liberia’s developmental agenda, the Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).
