Budget Hearing Starts Thursday

The Liberian Legislature Joint Committee on Ways, Means, Finance, and Development Planning commences public hearings on the expenditure component of the draft national budget for the fiscal year 2023 in the William Richard Tolbert Jr. joint chambers.

The hearing is expected to last from February 9th to the 15th. Ministries that are expected to appear Thursday include the Ministries of Finance Development Planning (MFDP) and Health, Liberia Revenue Authority, Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services (LISGIS), John F. Kennedy (JFK), and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia.

The hearing will preside over by the Joint Committee Chair, Hon. Thomas P. Fallah.

Day two, Friday, February 10, 2023, will bring together six Agencies. They include the Ministry of Education, the University of Liberia, the William V.S Tubman University, the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Transport.

Day-three, Monday, February 13, 2023, another six Agencies of government are expected to appear. They are the Ministry of Justice, Defense, the Liberia National Police, Immigration, the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), and the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).

Day four, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, will bring together the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the General Services Agency (GSA), the National Elections Commission (NEC), and the Ministry of Labor.

Day five, Wednesday, February 15, 2023; the Ministry of Public Works, the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE), and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The joint legislative budget committee shall climax her duty of the expenditure component of the draft National budget following the outstanding and rescheduled hearings and finalization of revenue numbers.
