“Failed Presidency”; Cummings Describes Weah’s Five Years Performances

The Opposition Political Leader of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) Alexander Cummings, has described president Weah’s five years tenure in office as a failure and said Liberians deserved better than what is seen today.

Speaking exclusively with Kukatonon News a day after President George M. Weah delivered his 6th State of the National Address, Alexander Cummings declared that President Weah has failed.  Cummings narrated that unemployment and economic hardship, remain crucial issues to the survivability of ordinary people.

“When you look at unemployment in Liberia, you look at corruption in Liberia, even Transparency International just released their annual report on corruption and it shows that Liberia, over the last five years of President Weah’s tenure, the country has become more corrupt which is an indication of this his failed presidency”.

According to Cummings, a local organization, called NAYMOTE, which he called a credible local NGO that focuses on governance graded the Weah-led government at 8%, meaning they only fulfilled 8% of the promises he made to the Liberian people when they came to power.

But a prominent local talk show host recently made some background checks on the Facebook posts of the Director of NAYMOTE and discovered his postings have been very political and in direct opposition to the administration of President Weah.

Mr. Abraham Godsent Wheon of Freedom FM, stated on an edition of his evening radio show, “Face the Issues”, that Mr. Eddie Jarwolo of NAYMOTE was not unbiased in the tracking and compilation of a report on the promises made by the President to the people.

Wheon noted that Jarwolo has had several posts on his Facebook account several jibes against the presidency and can in no way be independent in any polls or tracking of the Weah’s Administration.

Moreover, Cummings said by any indication and any polling result, Liberians believe they are worse off today than they were five years ago.

President Weah emphatic about his achievements during delivery of his 6th SONA

“Liberians have suffered more than they were five years ago. The salaries of civil servants have been reduced or harmonized. Civil servants are not getting paid regularly. So by any measure, Liberia is going backward and this President has failed the Liberian people” he noted.

Grading the Weah-led government, Cummings said the president and his entire leadership, have failed and scored an F as he is not leading the country in the direct direction.

“He is not leading our country. Our country is leaderless and we are determined to make him a one-term president and replace him in January 2024. The President right now does not know how others look at our governance systems and processes and he doesn’t know things have deteriorated.

Meanwhile, CPP leader Cummings has divulged that if elected President of Liberia, in October of this year, his government will implement a long list of things including a National Youth Service Program amongst others.

“I will create employment by designing a new service program that will employ young people, give them skills, give them training, and give them a stipend to make a living.

“We will implement a microfinance or credit facility for our market women for Liberian businesses so we can begin to grow Liberian businesses and Liberians can begin to enjoy a successful economy. We will ask the anti-graft institutions to do an audit of what we inherited so that we can declare to the people what is being inherited from this government, what mysteries have taken place and we will follow the evidence” he discloses.

Cummings at the same time has unveiled that as President of Liberia, he will ensure his government reinvests in agriculture through the provision of credit facilities, providing training for farmers, and setting up a direct Market Corporation, for farmers to have somewhere to sell their product to.

Cummings, then, insinuated that Liberia is peaceful although Liberians are not secure and there is no violence there have been mysterious deaths across the country and that still is an unresolved issue and on overall, the country is peaceful but security is an important area that needs to be handled.

However, when Kukatonon News took to the streets to get the citizens’ view on whether Weah has failed, 4 out of 6 lauded the President on his performance over the last 5 years. [See Video above]
