NEC Liberia Condemns Physical Attack On Local Journalist

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has in the strongest tone condemned the physical attack on Journalist Diamond N. Slanger of the Spoon Communication Network by one of its temporary Electoral Supervisors at the Love Valley Academy registration center with the code 30381

According to NEC Press statement issued on Tuesday, 21st March 2023 say the Commission has immediately terminated the services of the Electoral Supervisor identified as Thomas Bryant. It can be recalled that the NEC opened an application for the issuance of accreditation cards to National and International Media, and Organizations for the observance of the 2023 Biometric Voter Registration exercise.

The Commission has reminded its temporary staff of NEC zero-tolerance policy against violence something which the Commission stated that it has the propensity to affect the work and the image of the institution.

The NEC assured the public that under any circumstances to compromise any act of violence or an assault by any of its temporary Staff or permanent staff.

At the same time, the National Elections Commission has apologized to the Management and Staff of Spoon Communication Network for the incident that took place.
