Rep. Enders: Listening To My Constituents is My Greatest Political Achievement

Montserrado County District Number 6 Representative, Rev. Samuel R. Enders has said his listening prowess has helped him to better represent the people during his first term as a lawmaker.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kukatonon News at his African Dream Academy (ADA) campus, Rep. Enders emphasized that for the last five years as Representative of the people, he often finds time to listen to the plight of his constituents, thereby enabling him to meet their urgent needs.
“My greatest achievement through my five years has been listening to the people. Being able to listen to them helps you to understand what they are and how best you can help assist them in that way” he said.
Representative Samuel Reagen Enders won the district seat in 2017 with an aggregate vote of 18,489 constituting 45.15 percent, with the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) candidate, Mr. Joseph P. Todd in a distant second with 6,653 votes culminating into 16.25 percent of the total votes cast.
Rev. Enders, however, cautioned Liberians to watch out as elections draw near as many deceptive politicians would come their way seeking their votes.
“Before you give your district; before you give your country to anyone ask the questions: what is their qualification? What have they done? This is the simple message to my people in this time of campaign and elections,” the District 6 lawmaker cautioned.
According to Rev. Enders Liberians know precisely that they must make choices based on experience, based on fact, based on what they have seen and what they are experiencing presently.
“I think if we can elect people based on reality and not a fallacy in our mind, we will do better than where we are now. And do not judge the book by its cover, but rather open the book and judge the book by what it contains as it will be the light for the next six years to come,” he urges Liberians. “I hope those of us who want to run in this election will put Liberia first. It should not be about how much money I would make. It should not be about the political party the person comes from but rather the person’s ability to lead,” he stressed.
He disclosed that his primary focus now was to get his constituents to register to be able to vote during the October 2023 General and Presidential Elections.
Meanwhile, Representative Enders has underscored the need for government to jumpstart a drive to increase employment in the country.
“I think if we can get invest the first 25 million and then say we will use 5,000,000 in each county of five counties and do a little just a little factory be it chicken soup factory or where nails can be produced for the benefit of the citizens”, he suggests.
“We will get our people working, we get them back to work. So I wanted ideas of nationalism. Nationalism is the idea of putting the people first. The idea that India can be who they are today, we can also be; the idea that Asia came from nowhere, but their citizens are somewhere today, is the same idea Liberians can use to lift themselves,” he concluded.
