Six Political Parties Join Ruling CDC, Avowed Massive Campaign For Weah
Admits claimed by the opposition community that the CDC-led administration has failed the Liberian people, six additional political parties, over the weekend, joined the coalition to ensure President Weah wins his second term at a one-round ballot.
The six parties include; the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), United People’s Party (UPP), Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), Union of Liberian Democrats (ULD), Redemption Democratic Congress (RDC), and Change Democratic Action (CDA).
Speaking on behalf of the six parties at a ceremony attended by thousands of partisans of the various as well as well-wishers held in Paynesville City at MOVEE headquarters, the spokesman of the six political parties, Robert Sammie said they are formed to promote the interests of the Liberian people and as such, they see no one else to lead them but President Georgia Manneh Weah.
According to him, they as political leaders of Liberia are not willing to give the country to people who are not developmentally minded as President Weah is and has proven over the past years of his leadership.
He, however, assured that the six parties’ leadership, members, and auxiliaries are in full readiness to campaign on behalf of President Weah in order for him to continue his developmental agenda.
Accepting the petition of the six political parties, President Weah reiterated that the interest of the Liberian people is paramount and is a fundamental pillar of the pro-poor development agenda.
“Together, we will constitute a 9-member strong bloc with the singular purpose of bettering the lives of the Liberian people. I need not over-emphasize how MIGHTY that is. Collectively, I predict that our Grand Coalition will be an indomitable force”, he said.
President Weah recounted numerous achievements made by the Party ranging from the tuition-free policies at Secondary and Tertiary institutions to infrastructure improvements, (hospitals, housing units, parks).
According to him, additionally, hundreds of kilometers of roads are also being built, including those leading to markets in rural areas as well as large and small-scale development projects continuing to sprout in various places across the Country.
“Fellow members of the Grand Coalition, I want you to know that there is room for everyone in our broad church. We will continue to build on existing alliances, even as we form new ones. It is my belief that a diverse union, such as the one we are signing up for today, presents varied perspectives to our body politic, which is very crucial for national development and reconciliation”, he ended.
