August 5th Campaign Officially Begins, NEC Reiterates
9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia: The National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairperson, Davidetta Browne Lansanah, has called on all political party aspirants, to abide by the rules and be cognizant that campaign activities officially begin on the 5th of August and run to the 8th of October 2023.
The NEC Chairperson Lansanah while addressing the Press in Monrovia, sounded off that the Commission is examining the regulations drafts governing Campaign activities already but, the NEC needs to put in place the requirements to be able to publish the rules and regulations governing the timetable for campaign activities.
“The National Elections Commission NEC has drafted a series of regulations, for Campaigning activities but those regulations, have sanctions attached and we need to get the kind of necessary information out there first before we can enact those sanctions” conveyed Lansanah.
Furthermore, Chairperson Lansanah told the Press as the Coalition for Democratic Change CDC carried out its nomination process, all other Political Parties aspirants will also be permitted to also do nomination of their Political Leaders or Candidates.
Deliberating on other issues, the NEC Chairperson, stressed that Magistrates are often rotated so that they can operate in a new environment that they are not used to, and that will help take off some of the challenges on them, and also help make them even more successful, in the implementation of their duties or obligations.
In the meantime, NEC Chairperson Lansanah has expressed, that Liberians, are happy with the adaptation of the new biometric process which is vibrant and sustainable.
